Quagmire had to learn the hard way that cheap driving lessons were a waste of money. He enrolled in the course that was the least expensive, and couldn't understand how one company could charge 3 times as much as another. It must all be close to the same instruction, he thought, so he went ahead and agreed to be content with the cheap driving lessons. He showed up on the first day, right on time, only to wait for 2 hours for the instructor to show up. Everyone else who was waiting for the instructor didn't seem disturbed by this, only Quagmire. Everyone else was just hanging out, talking about the last crash they had in their car, or smoking. Some were even smoking funny stuff. And this was before they were going to have to drive! No wonder they chose the cheap driving lessons, they had more money to spend on cigarettes and funny cigarettes. The instructor showed up on a motorcycle, which made Quagmire wonder how often he drove a car. Well, at this point he was only happy that the instructor showed up at all. His concern was to pass his upcoming driving exam, and if he learned enough from this guy to pass, that would have made the cheap driving lessons worthwhile.
Unfortunately, he didn't. The day didn't go smoothly at all, at least for Quagmire. He soon realized that everyone else was there because they were forced to be, in order that their licenses didn't get suspended. Many were there on drunk driving charges, and the instructor seemed to find this amusing as he constantly made jokes about it and laughed it off as if it were a problem with the law and not one with the people who were driving drunk. Still, Quagmire tried to ignore the annoyances and was just trying to concentrate on any information he could extract from the goings on of the day. He wasn't able to absorb much. He did learn, however, that the test was not going to be as difficult as he had thought. The instructor even went so far as to show the students a copy of one of the tests that had been given and smuggled out of the test center. This was all in the name of helping, and help it did. Quagmire didn't learn many driving skills that day, but he did learn enough about the test itself that he was able to deduce what he needed to study in order to pass.
